I am sick and tired of Republicans and Democrats alike lamenting President Biden’s age and saying he should not be seeking a second term. Presidents generally do seek a second a term…even those don’t have a successful track record. They run. Some such as the Washington Post’s David Ignatius and Senator Mitt Romney are recommending Biden get out of the race. Okay, show me the beef. Show me your alternative.

President Biden is running for re-election. I think we can all agree President Biden will not drop out unless Trump was out of race. That said, there are four other Democrats who could throw their hat in the race in the event Biden stepped aside–author and humanitarian Marianne Williamson who ran in 2020, lawyer and writer Robert Kennedy, Jr., former Governor and current Senator of West Virginia Joe Manchin, and Minnesota 3rd District Representative Dean Phillips who has refused to endorse Biden’s reelection effort and is actively courting Green Party candidate, philosopher, academic, and political activist Cornel West to run in the Democratic primary.

We already know the GOP alternatives for the President. We have businessman, television personality, and former President Donald Trump, former Vice President and former Indiana Governor of Indiana Mike Pence, former US Ambassador Nikki Haley, Florida Governor Ronald DeSantis, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and 2016 GOP primary candidate, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchison.

Let’s not forget the People’s Party. Cornell West dropped them and went to the Green Party. Okay, enough about the secretly funded People’s Party.

So, who is the alternative to Biden? Who would you like to see take the reins of this country? Would you be comfortable with President Biden dropping out of the race and you having to choose from one of the above, or based on the “possibility” that better candidates will join the Presidential race? Not me…I want President Biden to run if he chooses to do so…he’s earned that. It’s his race to win or lose…whether to a Democrat, a Republican or one of those other party candidates.
