Is it Possible to Have It All? That Depends

What does “having it all” mean to you? Is it attainable?

I’ve always thought that here in America we the people were mostly working toward “having it all”…always working toward:

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America…”

Today, I find myself weary and not sure where we are truly headed. Watching the House Leader and other elected officials standing behind the former President and/or out in front of cameras when they should have been at work was disheartening.

One thing I know for sure is I’m on Team Biden. Not because it’s a perfect team, but because they are working toward a more perfect union. They are building, repairing, doing…not just talking, not just engaging in foolishness. After the last administration, there was just so much to do. First, the Biden Administration had to stop the dying…not the steal (whatever that was), but the dying. They also had to get people back to work, and they had to help them stay afloat. Unlike Trump who was handed a growing economy, Biden was handed a much different situation, but Biden and his Administration were unfettered in tackling the problems of the country…and there were many, and then more.

Although much has been done, there is so much more to do. We have all been affected by this persistent inflation and interest rates, but people have forgotten when Biden became President it wasn’t inflation…it was death, employment and getting people back to work. Everybody hasn’t felt the full impact of the recovery but at least we can go out and talk to our friends and co-workers about it. Our children are back in school, America is back to work, and people are not dying all over the place.

That said, there are many who lost parents, grandparents, spouses, and others, so all recovery is not the same. Some are still suffering from the effects of long-COVID. Some areas have had better recovery than others and some community leaders mismanaged recovery monies. And, then there is persistent inflation, high inflation and housing shortages…there’s a lot to do.

The Biden team is constantly trying to get things done. They are working on domestic and foreign issues. And every single win was fought for tooth and nail because the last administration won’t get out of the way until the last possible moment. It will only get worse before November.

So is the having it all still attainable…only if we have people who are serious about getting things done at the helm. So, hopefully as you decide who you are casting your votes for, you are asking your candidates, “What have you done for our country lately?” If they haven’t built anything, fixed anything, voted “yes” on anything, and they get your vote…we’re in trouble.

I believe most Americans are sane, decent people with common sense. I don’t think that has changed. If it had then the former President would still be President. I just hope I am right.
