Trump’s ignorance, short-sightedness, and narcissism make him a scary guy. But it is his cult-like popularity that makes him fatally dangerous. He reminds me of the loud, bat-ass, crazy guy with the red hair and the comb-over on the street corner that most people just scurry by…but a few always stop and watch the show. But Trump, although on a much larger scale is our Charles Manson. He has taken these folks who cannot stop themselves from doing his bidding and they are murdering our country, killing our democracy. They are not a crazy bunch of drug-induced kids, but elected leaders, our moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, upstanding citizens, god-loving folks, our neighbors and old friends…and some are those we hid in the closet for years.

My fear is we will wake up one morning and it will be on the front page of every newspaper, “Trump Succeeded; He Did It!” We are watching his derangement and deterioration in full blown color, and yet we cannot turn away…even those of us who know he’s crazy cannot turn him off. The media can’t stop covering him, and we cannot stop watching and listening to him.

Trump is everywhere…and, if you listen and watch him too long, one might start thinking America is a complete mess and only this draft-dodging, lying, insurrection leading, bloodsucking, money-grubbing, hate and fearmongering, misogynist, racist, cheating con-artist, dictator loving, daddy-made mobster, can fix what’s wrong in our America.

I challenge you to turn off your television…and look around your community for a day or two. Ride around your neighborhood. Have a conversation about something other than politics. Look at the home you live in. Look at the schools your children attend. Look in the sky and count the fighter jets overhead. Count the bodies on the street as you drive down the road. Who in your family is a hostage? Do you have a television, a bed to sleep in, food on your table, gas in your car, a roof over your head? Can you read anything you want to read? Can you go into any store you choose to go in? Can you vote if you choose to vote? Were you at the Capitol on January 6th? Why not? Do you know someone who was there? If so, why didn’t you go? If you know someone who was there on Jan. 6th, who were they before January 6th? Are you afraid…fearing for your life? Well today, we have people in America who are in fear for their lives, their future, their freedoms. Before Donald Trump…not nearly so many.

This is our America. This is our democracy. It’s not perfect! America has its problems and always has, but this ain’t the guy to fix it…and neither are those who have enabled him!

Like with Manson most will understand what happened and that he was bat ass crazy. Like Manson, we will lock him up and throw away the key. But let’s face it, he will have killed far more than people…he will have killed America as we know it.

We must stop him now! We must get back on our path to making the United States of America a more perfect union.
