Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and House Republicans want the IRS funding debate to be about whether or not wealthy Americans should pay more taxes. But that is not what the discussion regarding increased dollars for the IRS is about…that discussion is simply about following the rules as they are currently written. Unless the tax rules are changed, the IRS is simply going after criminals who are dodging their tax bills. Why would House Republicans want to protect their donors…oops, I meant tax invasion criminals? Why would they be willing to hold up important aid with blackmail, especially knowing this move will increase the deficit? This is something everyone should know.
