Is U.S. Israel Stance Also a Not-So-Subtle Message to U.S. Terrorists?

More than two years after rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol, prosecutors have charged more than 1,000 people in relation to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack. The investigation has doubled the FBI’s domestic terrorism caseload, yet the Justice Department has indicated it believes around 2,000 people engaged in the attack. The search, arrests and prosecutions continue.

In short, the U.S. government will not stop looking for those who attacked the U.S. on January 6th. Their stance is obvious, the U.S. has the right to protect itself from enemies just it stands by Israel in protecting itself from Hamas. The difference is the manner Israel has chosen to do so. Although, the U.S. has recommended Israel move in a manner that would protect civilians, their message regarding Israel has been clear, it is Israel’s right to defend attacks on its country…and although certainly making recommendations, it is ultimately Israel’s decision on how they root out Hamas within the confines of international law.

On January 6, 2021, following the defeat of U.S. president Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election, a crowd of his supporters attacked the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. The crowd sought to keep Trump in power by preventing a joint session of Congress from counting the Electoral College votes to formalize the victory of President-elect Joe Biden.

Five people died either shortly before, during, or following the event: Capitol Police shot one, another died of a drug overdose, and three died of natural causes, including a police officer. Many people were injured, including 138 police officers. Four officers who responded to the attack died by suicide within seven months.

The Justice Department continues to seek out and prosecute the individuals who perpetrated this attack on the United States. The message to those who attack the U.S. internally or externally, domestic, or foreign, citizens on non-citizens, if you attack the United States, we will not rest until justice is exacted…the very same message sent to Osama Bin Laden, etc., etc., etc.
