Folks Who Need Breathing Room

Daily writing prompt
If you had a million dollars to give away, who would you give it to?

I know so many people who go to work every single day–sometimes two or three jobs–and yet, they just cannot get a paycheck ahead. I would try to figure out a way to provide them with a little breathing room. I know the fruit of having a little breathing room…it gives you the opportunity to breathe and sometimes to make a change.

There are people who cannot get a better job because they cannot afford to lose two checks. There are people who cannot get job training for a better job, because they cannot afford a babysitter. There are people who had an unexpected emergency (car trouble, illness, divorce), and never fully recovered financially. There’s a myriad of reasons a person might need a little breathing room. And sometimes having breathing room just lifts the stress of not knowing how they would survive even a small emergency.

Even if you don’t have a million dollars to give away, it’s not a bad practice. Just put it in an envelope and slide it under the door or mail it…they don’t need to know where the blessing came from. That way they don’t have to worry about how they will pay you back…even if you tell them they you do not expect them to pay it back. Hopefully, some day they will be able to pay it forward.

I guarantee you will feel like you gave a million dollars even if you only paid for a bit.
