Not once, not ever, have I heard the former President, Donald speak about democracy. Perhaps, that is why he finds it so easy to ignore the laws that keep it safe.
I didn’t need to hear the former President’s chief of staff, John Kelly, confirm Trump’s disdain for the military to know it was so. It has been obvious through his many actions before and after arriving on the political scene.
The former President is a draft dodger. It wasn’t because of religion. It wasn’t because he opposed the reasons for the war. It was because he didn’t understand what was in it for him. So, I didn’t need to hear someone validate that he couldn’t understand why soldiers died for their country.
He disrespected a Gold Star family, the late Senator John McCain, and every prisoner of war. And, then there was January 6th. All of these instances spoke to his disdain for our democracy.
There is so much more to be written regarding Trump and his disrespect of the military, hour heroes, and our laws, but one thing stands out for me. Trump is never in the fight; he talks up the fight.
He went to court yesterday and let his lawyers put on the show for him…when all is said in done, they will be up before the bar fighting for their licenses to practice. He scowled at New York Attorney General, Letitia James, the judge, and prosecutors throughout the proceeding. The kicker for me was the video clip of the deposition where he throws the ever-faithful Allen Weisselberg under the bus…I hope Rudy Guiliani, Mark Meadows, and the rest of the co-conspirators in Georgia saw that clip. As I said, never in the fight…just talks up the fight. Look at all those who fought for him who are now in prison. I hope they saw that clip.
Well, you haven’t read one word regarding Trump standing up for our democracy…that is most likely because he hasn’t. Trump doesn’t see anything in it for him.
