This is not the time for the GOP to play games with the welfare of our country. Our country is still reeling from the repercussions COVID and the mismanagement of the pandemic by the last administration. We are still trying to recover from the lasting effects of COVID while trying to prepare for future occurrences. We are trying to rebuild our lives and infrastructure, our government, and our relationships. Our country is still trying to battle the inflation that has crippled countries around the world. We find ourselves trying to re-establish relationships with our allies that were damaged…and in the middle of that fighting for our own democracy and supporting the fight for of all democracies.
We have one U.S. Senator who has never spent one day in the military waging a brutal attack on our military forces while the rest of the GOP refuses to rein him in. We have GOP House members distracting the current President who is also battling a former President who refuses to stand down after a clear and decisive loss…per the courts. Rather than stand down this former President continues to bash and attack our government and the President without ceasing…it is an assault on a current President from a predecessor unlike anything we have seen in our country. In the midst of an economic recovery, we have a bunch of well-paid and in some cases very wealthy GOP members of the House screaming for a shutdown…as if their previous posturing regarding the debt ceiling resulting in a downgrade in our credit rating has not already cost us enough.
Who are the people who are placing our country’s economy and the well-being of its citizens in harm’s way by once again by threatening a government shutdown? Most of them are wealthy…and all of them are paid well and have excellent medical benefits. Many were born with what most Americans are striving to achieve. Some of them have had skirmishes with the law…no, George Santos is not the only one who has a background…research these folks.
