Lying is without a doubt the biggest red flag for me. I believe most people will tell a lie from time to time to protect their privacy or to prevent an awkward situation. I know I have told someone who asked me how my day was going that it was going well…no use putting a damper on their day. I’ve never lied about another person, or to the IRS. But I’ve met people who regularly tell obvious lies about things and people, and I find that unsettling. A person who tells lies about other people or lies that will bring harm to others is a level up.
It doesn’t really matter if it’s the President or a personal acquaintance. Most politicians lie, but there are some who tell a lot of lies and harmful lies. It’s a red flag. It’s just hard to trust a person when you never know if what falls from their lips is the truth or a lie. It’s even worse when you expect them to lie every time you have an encounter with them. I personally try to avoid them, but it’s not always possible. I have been known to confront the lie, though. Sometimes it’s just necessary. I will say the older i have gotten, the easier that task has become…although, I’m not sure why.
