This is the best of what the candidates had to say, and their words tell us a lot about their integrity and honesty:

Chris Christie: “The job of the president of the United States is to level with the American people about everything. The job of the president of the United States is to stand for truth.”

Ron DeSantis: ““Mike did his duty, I’ve got no beef with him.”

Nikki Haley: “The truth is that Biden didn’t do this to us. Our Republicans did this to us too. When they passed that $2.2 trillion Covid stimulus bill, they left us with 90 million people on Medicaid, 42 million people on food stamps. No one had told you how to fix it. I’ll tell you how to fix it. They need to stop the spending, they need to stop the borrowing, they need to eliminate the earmarks that Republicans brought back in, and they need to make sure they understand these are taxpayer dollars, it’s not their dollars. And while they’re all saying this, you have Ron DeSantis, you’ve got Tim Scott, you’ve got Mike Pence, they all voted to raise the debt and Donald Trump added 8 trillion to our debt and our kids are never gonna forgive us for this. And so at the end of the day, you look at the 2024 budget, Republicans asked for 7.4 billion in earmarks, Democrats asked for 2.8 billion. So you tell me who are the big spenders. I think it’s time for an accountant in the White House.”

Asa Hutchinson:  “We have to have respect for our justice system and the rule of law, and it starts at the top with the president of the United States.”

Mike Pence: “Now is not the time for on-the-job training. We don’t need to bring in a rookie, we don’t need to bring in people without experience.”

Vivek Ramaswamy “I am genuinely worried that that American dream will not exist … unless we do something about it.”

Tim Scott:  “If we want the environment to be better, and we all do, the best thing to do is to bring our jobs home from China. If we create 10 million new jobs in my Made in American plan, we will have a better economy and a better environment.”

Christie knows the President must be honest, and yet Trump began lying early in his first campaign for President, and Christie was supported him. DeSantis knows Mike Pence did his duty (unless he was lying), but it had to be pulled out of him. Nikki Haley decided to tell the truth last night, even stood firmly in her pro-life stance…but I still felt like with “consensus politicians should be in our bedrooms. Asa is very nice and will definitely not support Trump…I think. Pence will drag his morals into the doctor’s office and the bedroom with me and my family. I worry about how Vivek’s dreams line up with reality. Scott must be going to solve the immigration problem as well because today, finding employees is the biggest problem of every recruiter in the United States…including our military.   

If I was a Republican-I’m not, I suppose I would take a closer look at Nikki Haley. That said, at this moment, Biden is the best choice for our country. Like our country, he’s not perfect…but he is trying to make this a more perfect union while also improving lives. He inherited quite a mess, and he’s trying to fix it…one day at a time and having tremendous successes.
