Brace yourselves! The only thing the GOP have left to get a leg up on the Biden economy is to disrupt it. The GOP is about to make the lives of those who truly depend on Social Security and federal government employment and pensions a nightmare for the second time this year.  Furthermore, their wealthy GOP donors who don’t want to pay their fair share will ensure food, fuel and housing will increase until the 2024 election no matter what the fed does. Their motto should be, “no pain for retired seniors, the disabled, and government retirees and workers, no gain.”   

Members of the House Freedom Caucus are again threatening to shut down the government over things they know they will not get. Their demands wreak of a desired shutdown:

1. “In the eventuality that Congress must consider a short-term extension of government funding through a Continuing Resolution, we refuse to support any such measure that continues Democrats’ bloated COVID-era spending and simultaneously fails to force the Biden Administration to follow the law and fulfill its most basic responsibilities.”
2. Spending legislation must meet certain priorities of the party’s far right fringe, such as, a sweeping GOP border bill (aka there way or the highway); addressing “the unprecedented weaponization” of the Justice Department and FBI (aka stop prosecution of Donald Trump) and ending “woke” Defense Department policies (aka interfering in a women’s right to make health decisions regarding their bodies).
3. No “blank check” for Ukraine after the Biden administration’s new request for billions in additional aid. Ukraine should not be in this discussion.

The President or Justice Department cannot just allow Trump to walk free of crimes he has advertised to the world…ain’t gonna happen! At a minimum the former President must stand trial or plea…not only for the rule of law, but for those on both sides who are not sure whether or not he is innocent or guilty of a host of very serious crimes.  And, what’s to say they will not just create another situation in a few months…they’re reneging on the previous deal.  They are willing to burn it all down to get what they want. 

I personally believe if this was a vindictive witch hunt, Jared, Invanka and Jr. would have been in a cell long ago.  If the former President had just done what every President before him had done, we would not be here today.  How could the state of Georgia ignore what Trump allegedly attempted to do in Georgia?  How could the Justice Department ignore what happened on January 6^th?  How could the Archives and the Justice Department ignore what happened at Mara-Lago? Should they have just said let him keep the classified intelligence documents in the bathroom…had he not blasted it, it might have been taken care of quietly.  Trump thought these folks were the former First Lady Michele Obama…when they go low, we go high.  Unfortunately, they were wrong.  When you go low and blast it on a loudspeaker (got his own social media platform), the law in America is going to prosecute you…some would say they are going to go high.

Any candidate who gets on the debate stage and does not say we need to get through these court proceedings in a speedy manner should not be on any ballot for President of the United States.  They can stand by their belief in his innocence and even their belief the election was stolen.   However, they cannot say he is immune from prosecution for these crimes…immune from the law.   

Okay, I digressed. 

In May 2022, the House passed a bill designed to clamp down on price gouging by oil and gas companies.  The bill passed 2012-207 with no GOP votes and four Democrat votes.  The bill died in the Senate and the reasons the GOP were the usual Biden bashing talking points. The legislation died in the Senate…and we are about to feel why.  Inflation was going down although it is still lower than what most of the world is experiencing.   Biden’s championing the many successes garnered under his leadership. Unemployment is record-breaking.  We were looking at a soft-landing rather than the long predicted post-COVID crash.  The only thing the GOP has in its arsenal is causing havoc in the economy.  Now suddenly prices are rising again.  A government shutdown is back on the table.  They’re also going after unspent COVID funds, discouraging vaccines, and here comes Eris and Pirola.

Hold onto your seats America…we’re in for a rocky GOP ride!
